Snehatheeram Beach in Thrissur

Snehatheeram Beach in Thrissur

Upon setting foot on this popular beach, one realizes at once why it is christened “Snehatheeram” or ‘Love Shore’ – the reason is simple. It is impossible to come here and not fall in love with the ambient music of the sea waves hitting softly against the shore, and watching the Sun take a gradual dip in its waters, before disappearing completely.

The beach, located at a distance of 3 kilometres from the Thalikulam Taluk of Thrissur, and about 30 kilometres from the town itself, is an idyllic setting for everyone who visits it. Children can be spotted playing catch and making sand castles, lovers come here to enjoy a romantic walk in the breezy atmosphere against the backdrop of the sea, and families come for a fun-day out. Because of this universal appeal, the beach attracts national and international tourists at all times of the year. Of late, a lot of young photographers are spotted at the beach in hope of capturing some sublime moments.

Facilities and Main Highlights

This award-winning beach is known for its commendable maintenance by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). Easily one of the most beautiful beaches in Thrissur and Kerala, it was chosen as the Best Beach Tourism Destination by Kerala’s Department of Tourism in 2010.

Snehatheeram beach is the only one in Thrissur to have a dedicated beach park for children. Since it is government-maintained, the entry charges for the park are a nominal 3 Rupees for children and 5 rupees for adults.

The park houses an elaborate aquarium with a huge variety of marine flora and fauna, which is very attractive for children. What draws the adults to the beach is its dreamy garden and a curvy, tiled and paved walkway. Therefore, even people who are not particularly fond of beaches can come here and spend a good time.

For a wonderful sunset experience, one can choose to dine at one of the fine-dining restaurants with a view close to the beach. Naalukettu is one such restaurant that serves delectable Kerala sea-food to tourists.

Weather

The temperature at Snehatheeram ranges between 23-30 degrees on an average for most times of the year. Otherwise, the weather is typically cloudy and beachy.
